World Heritage Day
Heritage is a person’s unique, inherited sense of family identity: the values, traditions, culture, and artifacts handed down by previous generations. Heritage is a keystone of our culture that plays an important role in our politics, society, business and world view. It is important to have a good understanding of the heritage value of a site, building or object, because this value is the major reason underlying its preservation and the basis for its economic benefits.
Every year 18th April is celebrated as world heritage day. The International Council on Monuments and Sites (ICOMOS) in 1982 announced, 18 April as the World Heritage Day. This was approved by General Assembly of UNESCO in 1983, with an aim of enhancing awareness about the importance of cultural heritage, monuments and to conserve them. Every year it is celebrated with joy . This also encourages people to conserve our heritage
